We look for toys built to recognised toy-safety standards — EN71 in Europe, ASTM F963 in the US — which cover mechanical hazards, flammability and limits on lead, cadmium and phthalates.
Anything with small parts carries a minimum age and a choking-hazard note on its listing. If something doesn't check out, we don't list it.
Every listing carries an age guide so you're not squinting at the back of a box. If you're between two ages, sizing up is usually the safer bet for a gift.
Solid wood, water-based non-toxic paints, cotton and recycled plastics wherever we can source them. We check what a toy is made of before it goes on the shelf.
